We’re the UK hospitality industry’s leading net-zero advisors, accelerating progress and helping operators across the sector to decarbonise and build sustainable business models.

AS SPECIALISTS IN HOSPITALITY, WE UNDERSTAND THE IMPORTANCE OF QUALITY SERVICE.

We also understand that when it comes to carbon, one size doesn’t fit all. We pride ourselves on bespoke services, focused on each client’s unique needs.

Working closely with the Zero Carbon Forum, our non-profit collaboration, we offer end-to-end support through a range of services designed to help you calculate and track your carbon emissions, as well as helping you grow, thrive, and build resilience.

From board room to back-of-house, we build and empower net-zero journeys as unique as the operators we serve.

With strong roots in collaboration, a fierce drive for action, and deep understanding of the challenges unique to hospitality, we’re working together to bring net-zero to life.

We’re looking forward to being a part of your journey to net-zero.

FOOTPRINT - NET-ZERO STRATEGY -TRACKING & COMPLIANCE

FOOTPRINTING WITH ZERO CARBON SERVICES

METHODOLOGY

We’re aligned with the latest climate science, including the Science- Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) and Greenhouse Gas Protocol - the two ‘gold standards’ and most commonly used frameworks.

We cover all 3 emission scopes:

  • Scope 1: Fuel combusted on-site or in your operations, and refrigerant gases.
  • Scope 2: Purchased energy, such as electricity, steam, or cooling.
  • Scope 3: Your supply chain, split into 15 key categories to encompass everything from purchased goods and services to transportation and financial investments.

USES

A robust baseline is a key first step to net-zero. Once you have a footprint, you can:

  • Publish your full carbon footprint.
  • trategically focus time and resource.
  • Map your reduction pathway to net-zero.
  • Cut operational costs and energy spend.
  • Engage internal & external stakeholders.
  • Comply with mandatory reporting.
  • Choose voluntary reporting.
  • Demonstrate commitment through accreditations like the UN Race to Zero

REPORTING

Government requirements and legislation around greenhouse gas reporting are rapidly evolving, including reporting and expansions to carbon taxation and cap and trade.

Mandatory reporting includes disclosure of scopes 1-2 by companies listed on the main stock markets: FTSE, EEAM, NYSE, NASDAQ and TCFD.

Voluntary reporting allows you to choose what and how to report, based on your stakeholder requirements. Voluntary reporting includes CDP and SBTi.

BESPOKE NET-ZERO STRATEGY

Once you’ve got your footprint...

THE NEXT STEP IS TO MAP DECARBONISATION PATHWAYS AND DEVELOP A REDUCTION PLAN

Starting with the quick wins, and working toward longer-term, more strategic actions, we’ll work with you to:

We cover all 3 emission scopes:

  • Set short, medium, and long-term goals to net-zero.
  • Map interim milestones along the way.
  • Set KPIs to define success and drive transparency.
  • Choose impactful short-to-medium term measures.
  • Help define an engagement strategy with suppliers and partners.
  • Identify business units responsible for implementation.
  • Define business impact of various recommended measures.
  • Assess expectations and feasibility of decarbonisation actions.
  • Integrate decarbonisation within the framework of your growth plans and broader strategy.
  • Build a holistic approach to achieve net-zero quickly, credibly, and profitably.

EXAMPLE

Government requirements and legislation around greenhouse gas reporting are rapidly evolving, including reporting and expansions to carbon taxation and cap and trade.

Short-term Goal

100% renewable electricity by 2023.

Short-term Measures

Switch to a REGO-backed renewable tariff, drive consumption reductions across estate, scope on-site renewable generation.

Medium-term Goal

Reduce reliance on gas by 75% by 2030 and switch to a 100% renewable tariff. 90% reduction in scopes 1-2 and halve total emissions by 2030.

Medium-term Measures

Replace end-of-life equipment with electric alternatives (e.g. induction), install heat pumps.

Long-term Goal

Net-zero 2040.

Long-term Measures

Robust supplier engagement and standards strategy in line with 2040 net-zero target.

SCIENCE BASED TARGETS

Ambitious, science-based emission reduction targets help you to lead the way to a zero carbon economy, boost innovation, and drive sustainable growth.

The Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) is the international standard for credible climate commitments. Having your net-zero targets validated by the SBTi demonstrates ambition, accountability, transparency, and credibility.

Your SBT will verify how much, and how quickly, you need to reduce emissions in line with a 1.5 trajectory – aligned with the Paris Agreement to avoid the worst of climate change and enable the transition to a net-zero future. This sends a strong message to investors and stakeholders, and drives greater action by leading and influencing your peers, suppliers, and customers.

REPORTING,
COMPLIANCE, &
LEGISLATION
REGISTERS

As the world begins to understand the urgency behind climate change, legislation and compliance requirements are constantly changing and developing.

Keep up with evolving regulations and demonstrate progress by understanding where and how you’re required to report, as well as recommended voluntary reporting that can help you demonstrate commitment and progress.

We’ll build a robust reporting plan based on your requirements, opportunities to showcase action, and where you’re experiencing pressure from stakeholders or competitors.

Frameworks we support include:

  • Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS)
  • Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR)
  • Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI)
  • Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP)
  • Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD)
  • Global Reporting Initiative (GRI)
  • Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB)

CARBON TRAINING
AND EDUCATION

Understanding carbon emissions and how they relate to your business is key to driving meaningful action across levels and functions.

Internal engagement starts by making sure everyone understands and is a part of the core challenges facing the business.

That includes sharing and demystifying targets and terminology, and introducing easy ways to integrate sustainability and emission reductions into what everyone does, every day.

We offer bespoke workshops and training sessions, including:

  • Board and leadership team workshops and strategy sessions.
  • ‘Carbon literacy’ training and workshops on climate commitments Presentations and solution sessions of net-zero report and strategy. Training and engagement for operational teams.
  • Bespoke corporate training and integration on key topics. Customised collateral to engage corporate and operational teams. Implementation plans by core business unit, with best practice.
  • Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB)
